Cubs pitcher Andrew Cashner continues to make progress in his rehabilitation from a right rotator cuff strain.

Cashner threw another bullpen session (30 pitches) on Monday. He’ll throw another one Wednesday and then get ready to face some live hitting on Saturday in Atlanta.

Pitching coach Mark Riggins said all three of Cashner’s pitches are coming out of his hand properly and that he had real good life on his pitches.

Cashner first strained his rotator cuff on April 5 in his first major league start. He went on the disabled list on April 8 and after rehabbing the shoulder for six weeks, he reinjured the same area on May 17.

The Cubs are hopeful he will pitch for them out of the bullpen sometime in September.
