ATLANTA -- A quick look at the Chicago Cubs' 6-5 win over the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field on Sunday.

How it happened: The Cubs battled back in a long, sloppy game for both teams. They bailed out starter Matt Garza, who pitched five innings and gave up four runs, but only two earned. The Cubs got the win despite making four errors, adding to their major-league high of 101, and striking out 18 times. Trailing 4-0 in the sixth, the North siders scored four runs, knocking out Braves starter Brandon Beachy and roughing up former Sox reliever Scott Linebrink for two runs. Tyler Colvin's two-run single highlighted the inning, in which the Cubs sent nine men to the plate. The suddenly hot Darwin Barney had three hits and a sensational running catch into right field to rob Braves’ second baseman Dan Uggla of a hit that would have extended his hitting streak to 34 games. Barney has seven hits in his last two games, ending a 2-for-20 slump. Carlos Pena's 23rd home run in the seventh inning with Barney aboard put the Cubs ahead.

What it means: The Cubs have won four straight series for the first time since Sept. 9-21, 2008. They also have won 11 of their last 14 games. The team is 10-3 in August, their best start to the month since 2008.

Outside the box: Manager Mike Quade confirmed that right-hander Casey Coleman will start Wednesday’s game against the Astros, replacing Carlos Zambrano. With the excessive use of the bullpen, the team is contemplating bringing up a relief pitcher for two games before Coleman is recalled.

What’s next: Cubs right-hander Rodrigo Lopez (3-3, 4.78) will face Astros right-hander Henry Sosa (1-1, 6.00) in the series opener at Minute Maid Park on Monday.
