CHICAGO – Chicago Cubs outfielder Alfonso Soriano was hit on the right arm by relief pitcher Scott Linebrink in the eighth inning of the Braves-Cubs game on Wednesday night. Soriano stayed in the game and ran the bases before being replaced on defense in the ninth inning. He emerged from the trainers’ room with a wrap on his arm after being treated after the game.
“I think I’m OK,” Soriano said. “He hit me on the forearm, but I think I’ll be OK for tomorrow.”
In the second inning of Wednesday’s win, Soriano hit his second home run of the season to give the Cubs a 2-0 lead.
“They told me just to use ice and see if the swelling comes down tomorrow,” Soriano said. “They said it’s nothing to worry about. I’m just concerned if I can play tomorrow.”
Alfonso Soriano expects to play Thursday.
