MESA, Ariz. -- Chicago Cubs catcher Geovany Soto was held out of workouts Saturday because of a minor groin issue.
Manager Dale Sveum said the injury wasn’t serious and that Soto went through pre-workout exercises with his teammates. He just didn’t participate in live batting practice, either hitting or on defense, like everybody else did.
“It was more [because] you can’t catch without using your groin so we just kind of gave him the day off today,” Sveum said.
Geovany Soto skipped most of practice due to a minor groin injury.
