Expected to play Monday after taking off the weekend with tightness in his right quadriceps, the third baseman is now scheduled to return to action Tuesday.
He was supposed to do running drills Sunday before returning to play the following day, but with fields wet because of off-and-on rain the Cubs’ staff decided to not take any chances. Stewart’s running drills are now scheduled for Monday and he will likely play in either of Tuesday’s split squad games.
