Source: Cubs sign Navarro to $1.75M deal
The Chicago Cubs made it official Friday by announcing the signing of catcher Dioner Navarro, and a source told ESPN Chicago's Bruce Levine that the one-year deal was for $1.75 million with a $250,000 incentive package.
The 28-year-old Navarro was an 2008 All-Star with the Tampa Bay Rays, but he played much of last season in the Cincinnati Reds' minor leagues before being called up and hitting .290 in 24 games.
In 626 games in the big leagues, Navarro has batted .245.
