Rapid Reaction: Cubs 4, Rockies 2
By Jesse Rogers
MESA, Ariz. -- Here's a quick look at the Chicago Cubs 4-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday.
The Good: Edwin Jackson made his Cub debut and although he gave up a couple of hits, he pitched two scoreless innings. After giving up eight walks on Monday, Cubs pitchers walked just one on Tuesday. Outfielder Dave Sappelt, in a fight for a roster spot, homered and singled. Christian Villanueva also went deep. The Cubs executed a couple of rundowns in the field as well.
The Bad: David DeJesus has yet to have a hit in the early going of spring games while Anthony Rizzo has just one.
What we learned: Jackson said he was throwing fastballs and that's what hitters are "tracking" in spring hence a couple of hard hit balls. Sappelt had two hits off right-handed pitching which can only help his cause to make the team.
What's next: The 3-1 Cubs host the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday.
