Cubs sign their third pick of draft
The Chicago Cubs signed their third pick of June's draft, University of Miami outfielder Zeke DeVoss.
The Cubs will sign him to a $500,000 deal, according to a major league source.
DeVoss, 21, is the highest of the Cubs' 50 draft picks to sign so far. He was selected in the third round (98th overall pick) after batting .340 with two home runs, 27 RBIs and 32 stolen bases for the Hurricanes this season.
DeVoss is the 17th player in the Cubs' draft class to sign. Top picks Javier Baez (first round, ninth overall) and Daniel Vogelbach (second round, 68th overall), both high school infielders, remain unsigned.
