Here are boys and girls basketball players who stood out last week and received our weekly ESPNChicago.com game balls.


Paris Burns, Proviso East: Burns scored 30 points in Proviso East’s 74-58 win over Hinsdale South last week.

Tyrone Terrell, Eisenhower: Terrell scored a school-record 50 points and hit 12 3-pointers in Eisenhower’s 111-92 win over St. Laurence.

Kenny Obendorf, Metea Valley: Obendorf scored 28 points in Metea Valley’s 67-61 win over Neuqua Valley.

Alex Foster, De La Salle: Foster had 20 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks in the Meteors’ 73-60 win over Hales.

Erick Locke, Brooks: Locke, a freshman, had 28 points and 10 assists in Brooks’ 66-55 win over Perspective-Calumet.


Jewell Loyd, Niles West: Loyd seems to amaze even more each week. She put up 50 points, including 10 3-pointers, in Niles West’s win over Maine West last week.

Taylor Johnson, Lincoln-Way East: Johnson was a master thief in Lincoln-Way East’s win over Joliet West. She had a school-record nine steals to go along with 20 points in the win.

Maret Burchett, Fenwick: Burchett achieved the uncommon triple-double. She had 16 points, 11 rebounds and 10 steals in Fenwick’s 75-61 win over Bishop McNamara.

Mariyah Henley, Niles North: Henley had 26 points and 10 rebounds in Niles North’s 44-43 win over Warren.

Christen Prasse, Benet: Prasse scored 28 points to lead Benet to a 65-55 win over Geneva.

Brian Howard, St. Ignatius: Howard put up 26 points in St. Ignatius’ 68-66 win over St. Patrick on Saturday.

Jubril Adekoya, Andrew: Adekoya had 20 points and 13 rebounds in Andrew’s 81-51 win over Stagg on Friday.

Gavin Schilling, De La Salle: Schilling had 20 points and 10 rebounds in the Meteors’ 62-50 win over Farragut on Tuesday.

Michael Orris, Crete-Monee: Orris, an Illinois recruit, had 26 points, seven assists and four steals in Crete-Monee’s 70-56 win over Rich East on Friday.

Jared Brownridge, Waubonsie Valley: Brownridge connected on five 3-pointers and scored 29 points in Waubonsie Valley’s 66-61 win over Neuqua Valley on Wednesday.


Sara Ross, Montini: Ross put together a triple-double in Montini’s win over Milwaukee Riverside on Saturday. She had 13 points, 15 rebounds, 12 assists and five steals.

Kiela Garner, Rich South: Garner had 11 points, 11 rebounds and seven steals in Rich South’s 62-44 win over Phillips on Monday.

Arneasa Blair, Oswego East: Blair filled up the stat sheet with 20 points, five assists, five rebounds, three blocks and four steals in Oswego East’s 53-41 win over Oswego on Friday.

Jewell Loyd, Niles West: Loyd outscored New Trier in Niles West’s 45-23 victory on Tuesday. Loyd had 25 points and 16 rebounds.

Madeline Eilers, Benet: Eilers went off for 33 points in Benet’s 84-52 win over Plainfield North on Tuesday.

Here are the boys and girls basketball players who stood out last week and received our weekly ESPNChicago.com game balls.


Devin Foster, Curie: Foster scored a career-high 30 points in Curie’s 81-71 overtime win over Gary Bowman on Saturday. Foster scored 22 points after halftime. He was 19-of-23 from the free-throw line.

Tony Hicks, St. Rita: Hicks, a Penn recruit, scored 31 points in the Mustangs’ 66-64 overtime win over De La Salle. Hicks also scored the game-winner on a layup in overtime.

Aaron Simpson, North Chicago: Simpson, an Illinois State recruit, scored 44 points in North Chicago’s 100-80 win over Grant on Friday.

Johnte Shannon, Thornwood: Shannon scored a game-high 29 points in the Thunderbirds’ 61-42 win over Brooks on Saturday.


Leah Bolton, Marist: Bolton scored 31 points to lead Marist to a 70-40 win over Lincoln Park on Saturday.

LaTondra Brooks, Oak Lawn: Brooks scored a game-high 34 points in Oak Lawn’s 69-50 win over Morton on Tuesday.

Jewell Loyd, Niles West: Loyd, a Notre Dame recruit, scored 39 points in her team’s 49-38 win over Niles North on Saturday. She scored 26 points in the second half. She also had 19 rebounds.

Meghan Waldron, Wheaton Warrenville South: Waldron nearly had a triple-double in the Tigers’ 63-41 win over West Aurora on Thursday. She finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists and four steals.
