Montini G Johnson picks Iowa

July, 7, 2011
Montini senior offensive guard Jaleel Johnson committed to Iowa on Thursday.

Johnson, who is 6-4 and 295 pounds, chose the Hawkeyes over offers from Arizona, Boston College, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin.

“He’s a house with feet,” Montini coach Chris Andriano said. “He’s a big kid, moves very well. He’s got very powerful hips. When he hits people, they buckle.”

Johnson played at St. Joseph the past three years and transferred to Montini for his final season. Montini senior wide receiver Jordan Westerkamp committed to Nebraska earlier this summer.

Iowa now has six commitments.
