Mt. Carmel-St. Rita to be shown on ESPN3

The Catholic League football showdown between rivals Mount Carmel and St. Rita will be shown on at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

St. Rita is ranked No. 2 by and is undefeated entering the matchup. The Mustangs have been led by their defense, which has allowed 48 points through five games, and senior running back Jahwon Akui, who has rushed for 652 yards and eight touchdowns this season.

Mount Carmel is ranked No. 12 and is on a four-game winning streak since falling to Simeon in the season opener. The Caravan have scored an average of 38.6 points a game, which leads the Catholic League. Senior running back Michael Banks has accumulated 527 yards and five touchdowns on just 35 carries.

Last season, St. Rita defeated Mount Carmel 54-18 in one of the more lopsided games in the rivalry's history. Akui rushed for 206 yards and five touchdowns in the victory.
