Northern Illinois will host the Illinois state football finals in odd-numbered years from 2013 to 2021 the Illinois High School Association announced Monday.
Memorial Stadium in Champaign will continue to be the site of the championship games in even-numbered years. The schedule switch was necessitated by a change in the Big Ten Conference football schedule that will have Illinois playing home games on the IHSA state final weekend in odd years.
Southern Illinois and Illinois State had also submitted bids to host the finals.
