Glenbrook North senior center Andrew McAuliffe committed to Davidson on Thursday, according to his club coach.

McAuliffe, a 6-foot-8 center, also had interest from Belmont, Bradley, Loyola, Northern Illinois, Tulane among others. Northwestern had been recruiting him until he suffered a fractured right patella last season.

“He loved the academics,” Fundamental U club coach Mike Weinstein said. “They’ve been recruiting him for the longest. They stuck with him when he was hurt.”

McAuliffe is Davidson’s first Class of 2013 commitment.
