Catholic League hands out football awards

The Catholic League announced its award winners on Tuesday.

In the Blue Division, Loyola’s John Holecek, Mount Carmel’s Frank Lenti and St. Rita’s Todd Kuska all received the Tony Lawless Coach of the Year award after all three of their teams won a piece of the division title. Mount Carmel quarterback Chris Sujka and St. Rita running back Jahwon Akui shared the Tony Lawless Player of the Year award. Loyola defensive lineman Mark Sullivan was named the Defensive Player of the Year.

In the White Division, Bishop McNamara offensive lineman Matt Frazier, a Northwestern recruit, won the Tony Lawless Player of the Year award and Bishop McNamara coach Rich Zinanni was the Tony Lawless Coach of the Year. Hales Franciscan’s Willie Allen and St. Laurence’s Steve Fiorella shared the Offensive Player of the Year honors. De La Salle’s Josh Lisenby was the Defensive Player of the Year.
