Like Parker will do at 3 p.m. CT, Deng held a press conference along with high school teammate Charlie Villanueva, to announce where he would be playing collegiately. He's hoping Parker announces Duke just as Deng did a decade ago.
"(If Parker picks Duke) it just shows you another great job by Duke and their recruiting and the way they do things over there," Deng said after Bulls practice on Thursday. "It's just a great school and a great program. Playing for Coach K (Mike Krzyzewski) is something special. You either realize it before you go, while you're there or when you leave.
"I know they'll be real excited if it happens."
Deng doesn't regret holding a press conference and wants Parker to enjoy the day.
"Now that I look back I think it's great," he said. "You're always going to talk about the day you committed. You want to make it as unique as you can."
Deng was asked if announcing the decision in such a matter prepared him for the media attention in college.
"No, It makes you think you're all that and big time and you're definitely going to the NBA," he joked. "And you get a big head and walk around campus like you're the man. It's really cool."
