CHICAGO – Chicago White Sox third baseman Brent Morel and pitcher John Danks, currently on the disabled list, both made progress toward a return on Sunday.
After taking five days off for rest, Morel took grounders at third for the second straight day and planned to take batting practice after two days of flips.
“I feel perfectly normal,” Morel said. “Just getting my conditioning back, getting my arm back in shape. I feel ready to go.”
Morel said he expects to play a few rehab games at Triple-A Charlotte, possibly starting on Wednesday. Morel, who’s hitting just .177 this season, was placed on the DL with a lumbar back retroactive to May 18. He said his back feels completely different since he received a cortisone shot on May 10.
“Feels way better so hopefully it just continues to feel like this,” Morel said.
Meanwhile, Danks threw some soft toss on Sunday, saying he still has some soreness in the back of his left shoulder although it’s improved over the last two days. Danks was placed on the 15-day DL on May 24.
“I didn’t want to cut it loose, I didn’t want to push it too much but it’s definitely a positive,” Danks said.
Danks said his goal is to get on his regular side routine within the next few days. He plans to play catch on Monday. He’s 3-4 with a 5.70 ERA this season.

Sprinkles are one thing, but a heavy rain cell is coming right at us. It's not terribly big, though. Two outs top 9, White Sox up 3-1.
