CHICAGO -- Sunday’s bullpen session was another positive step for John Danks, who believes he’s a few rehab starts away from returning to the Chicago White Sox rotation.

Danks, who is on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 20 with a sore shoulder, said that if he was a betting man, he’d expect to find himself making a minor league start sometime this week.

“Whether it be in a rehab start or get out on the mound I don’t know but I’m ready to get out there and face some hitters,” Danks said. “That’s kind of the only time I can really gauge how I feel. Get some adrenaline going and have a hitter in there. Start thinking about getting him out rather than how I’m feeling every second.”

Danks said he threw everything in his repertoire Sunday , including breaking balls, and went full bore. He even sat for five or six minutes to simulate time between innings. As of Sunday morning the White Sox front office hadn’t told him what will be next.

“If I go on a rehab start next week I doubt they’d throw me out there for 100 pitches,” Danks said. “It’d probably be a couple of outings before I came back here. Like I said, I haven’t been told anything official yet but that’s kind of the way I’d think it would go.”
