CHICAGO -- Here’s a quick look at the Chicago White Sox’s 2-1 win over the Texas Rangers at U.S. Cellular Field on Thursday.

How it happened: The recent addition of Kevin Youkilis continued to pay dividends for the White Sox on Thursday. A day after Youkilis drove in the winning run in Wednesday’s extra-inning game, Youkilis proved to the difference on Thursday as he broke a 1-1 tie with a solo home run in the sixth inning. Two runs were enough support for White Sox rookie starting pitcher Jose Quintana, who allowed two hits and one run and struck out a career-high eight in eight innings. He improved to 4-1 and lowered his ERA to 2.04.The only run Quintana allowed was when Adrian Beltre lined a ball off him, and a run scored from second base when the ball deflected into the outfield. Alexei Ramirez drove in the White Sox’s other run in the fourth inning.

What it means: The White Sox are on a roll. They swept the Rangers for their sixth sweep of the season and have won nine of their past 12 games. They improve to eight games over .500 and remain in first place in the American League Central.

Outside the box: The White Sox have struggled at home most of the season, but have changed that trend as of late. They improved to over .500 at home with Thursday’s win. They’re now 22-21 at home.
