Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Gavin Floyd could come off the disabled list and return to the rotation on Monday, White Sox manager Robin Ventura said on Friday.

Floyd was placed on the disabled list Tuesday retroactive to July 8 due to right elbow tendinitis.

“I think it’s one of those ‘we’ll see’ [Saturday],” Ventura said prior to Friday’s game with the Detroit Tigers. “Tentatively, hopefully, he can go Monday if everything checks out [Saturday.] Throwing, everything looked fine, felt fine for him [on Friday.] Just want to get into [Saturday] and if everything feels OK maybe he can throw Monday.”

Floyd is 7-8 with a 4.54 ERA in 17 starts this season. He has allowed 101 hits, 52 earned runs and 31 walks and has struck out 91 batters in 103 innings. He's allowed four runs in his last four starts.

This was the first DL stint in Floyd's 11-year career.
