Sox open spot for Liriano, option Santiago

The Chicago White Sox made room for newly acquired pitcher Francisco Liriano, optioning left-handed reliever Hector Santiago to Triple-A Charlotte on Monday.

Liriano, acquired from the Minnesota Twins late Saturday, will wear No. 58 and is scheduled to make his White Sox debut against his former team on Tuesday at Target Field.

The 24-year-old Santiago is 2-1 with a 3.66 ERA in 32 relief appearances this season.
