The White Sox's trade for Edwin Jackson may be one of several big moves that general manager Kenny Williams makes up until the trading deadline at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Jackson could quickly be rerouted to the Nationals as part of a trade for first baseman Adam Dunn.

The Nationals also have interest in the White Sox Triple-A catcher Tyler Flowers. If the White Sox can complete a deal for Dunn, it’s apparent they’ll need to also address the fact that they need either another starting pitcher or a shut down relief pitcher.

Toronto has right-handed pitcher Shawn Marcum available, as well as relievers Scott Downs and Kevin Gregg. The White Sox may decide to solidify their bullpen by trading for Downs, who they have tried to trade for since December 2009. But Downs’ move would be more than just a secondary nondescript venture by the White Sox. The left-handed pitcher can either be a long man or setup man.

The White Sox may just use pitchers like Jeff Marquez or Carlos Torres as a fifth starter. Both of them have pitched in the major league and are at Charlotte Triple-A.

It’s obvious the White Sox aren’t through making deals, but obtaining Dunn is still a priority for the White Sox.
