According to a USA Today report, Lance Berkman vetoed a trade earlier Friday that would have sent him to the White Sox. Berkman has since waived his no-trade clause and a deal is in place to move him to the New York Yankees, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney on Friday.

Contacted immediately before Friday's game against the A's, general manager Ken Williams was asked if he would comment on the report.

"I won't deny the truth," Williams said via e-mail. "It is what it is."
