CHICAGO -- Chicago White Sox designated hitter Adam Dunn is out of the lineup Friday against the Kansas City Royals due to an ongoing oblique injury.

Dunn did not play on Sept. 1 and 2 because of the injury. He returned on Monday and played all three games against the Minnesota Twins. He went 3-for-8 with two doubles in the series. The White Sox had Thursday off.

“He has that side (injury) again,” White Sox manager Robin Ventura said prior to Friday’s game. “Just trying to take care of it and make sure nothing gets worse. It’s just one of those keeps coming back every once in a while.”

Dunn leads the majors with 96 walks 194 strikeouts and is second with 38 home runs. He is hitting .208 with a .340 on-base percentage and a .485 slugging percentage.
