MINNEAPOLIS -- A quick look at the Chicago White Sox's 6-0 win over the Minnesota Twins on Friday night at Target Field.

How it happened: The White Sox jumped out to an early lead when Dayan Viciedo drove in a run with a groundout in the second, scoring Alex Rios. Rios had doubled to lead off the inning. The Sox plated another run in the fourth inning as Twins starter Esmerling Vasquez walked three straight batters after Paul Konerko’s one-out single. Once again, Viciedo gets an RBI as he walked. The Sox scored a single run in the sixth and again added to their lead in the seventh on a Kevin Youkilis home run (19 ) and an Alex Rios RBI single. Chris Sale allowed just three base hits through six innings of work, winning his 17th game of the season. In Sale’s two previous starts against Minnesota he had allowed just two runs in 14 innings, winning both ballgames.

What it means: Sale is tied for the league lead with 17 wins. Chicago maintains its one-game lead in the American League Central as the Detroit Tigers won their game in Cleveland behind Justin Verlander. The White Sox changed their rotation, giving Jose Quintana two days rest and backing up Gavin Floyd one day. Quintana will pitch against the Tigers in the makeup game of Thursday’s rainout. Floyd will open the Kansas City series on Tuesday. Francisco Liriano gets the nod to start on Saturday after having been removed from the rotation last week.

Outside the box: DH Adam Dunn could be back in the lineup as early as Saturday . The team home run leader (38) has been sidelined with a strained oblique, missing seven consecutive games. The Sox recalled right-hander Jhan Marinez from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday. Marinez was part of the compensation package for Ozzie Guillen when he was allowed to take the Miami manager job. Marinez will be available out of the bullpen for manager Robin Ventura .

Up next: Liriano (5-11, 5.37 ERA) will face Twins right-hander Samuel Deduno (6-3, 3.55) in Saturday’s 12:10 p.m. start.
