CHICAGO -- If Chicago White Sox fans want a free knit bomber-style hat to fend off the cold, they will have to wait until April 6 to get it.
The White Sox announced their 2013 promotional schedule Wednesday and the knit hat, which comes with attached strings to secure the ear flaps, is one of 11 premium giveaways during the season.
There are also 13 family Sundays and 13 fireworks nights during the season, along with a Dog Day (April 23), an Elvis Night (Aug. 23) and a Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day promotion (Sept. 14).
Want a Rubik’s Cube-style puzzle with White Sox themes on each side? April 20 is the day to attend. How about a Paul Konerko bobblehead? Try May 11. On Opening Day, fans will receive a magnetic schedule and a rally towel.
The 30th anniversary of the "Winning Ugly" season will play into the giveaway schedule. Not only does the bomber hat incorporate the block-lettered Sox logo with red bars on the top and bottom, so does the May 25 cap night, the June 8 T-shirt night and the June 9 kids jersey night. There is even a Harold Baines bobblehead giveaway on April 27 with him wearing his 1983 jersey.
The entire promotional schedule can be found at whitesox.com/promos. Individual tickets go on sale Jan. 24 for all White Sox home games. Season-ticket packages are available now.
The 30th anniversary of the "Winning Ugly" season is a big part of promos.
