CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox's bullpen was at it again Sunday, delivering three shutout innings that bought the offense enough time to pull off a 4-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners in 10 innings.

Newcomer Matt Lindstrom offered his third consecutive scoreless outing in a White Sox uniform, especially impressive since one of those outings was a 2 1/3-inning stint Friday that matched a career long.

Jesse Crain and Addison Reed each followed Sunday with their own scoreless inning. Reed hasn’t been scored upon in any of his four outings and has three saves and a victory to show for them.

Already sporting the second-best bullpen ERA in the major leagues at the start of play Sunday, the White Sox lowered that even further to 1.83.

“It’s a good bullpen with a lot of talent,” catcher Tyler Flowers said. “Guys seem to be ready to go every time out. It makes it a little bit easier for me when I know they’re going to hit their spots and have their good stuff. Hopefully that can hold up for the whole season.”

Without wanting to put too much pressure on the bullpen, especially with youngsters like Reed and Nate Jones in key spots, manager Robin Ventura already has said that the relievers have a chance to be the anchor of the club.

“That’s part of us playing a lot of close games,” Ventura said. “They’re always coming in with the game on the line, tough situations and they did it today. They come in and give us that chance. They know how we play games and they’ve been put in the fire and they do a good job, they really do.”
