CHICAGO -- Bad luck appears to be the residue of poor offensive support for starter Jose Quintana. The impressive Chicago White Sox pitcher continues to throw outstanding games, with nothing to show for it.

White Sox starter Jose Quintana could only parlay seven scoreless innings of five-hit ball Wednesday against the Tigers into a league-leading 17th no-decision.

Quintana tossed seven shutout innings Wednesday against the Detroit Tigers, but he came away from the outing with a league-leading 17th no-decision after the Sox were shut out for the 14th time this season.

The left-handed pitcher seemed unfazed by the lack of run support from his teammates.

“Doesn’t affect me,” Quintana said through a club translator. “We were facing a very good pitcher. I don’t control results. I can only control what I do.”

Despite the run of no-decisions, Quintana believes he has established himself as a reliable rotation pitcher.

“I feel good about the innings I have pitched,” he said. “I worked hard in the offseason to get stronger and to pitch deeper into my starts. I want to finish the season strong.”

The White Sox’s hapless offense was forced into submission by Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez on Wednesday. He lowered his league-leading ERA to 2.50 and recorded a career-high 14th victory.

The Sox have averaged 2.7 runs in their past 13 games and have committed 18 errors in their past 12 contests.
