CHICAGO –- It was boos, then cheers, for Manny Ramirez during his first at-bat Saturday.
Playing in his former haunt of Fenway Park for the second time this season, Ramirez was greeted with loud boos as he stepped from the on-deck circle in the second inning.
But as his name was announced over the booing, the cheering started from a segment of Red Sox fans that seemed to remember him more for what he did for the hometown team than for how his Boston tenure ended.
By the time Ramirez reached the plate, the booing died down leaving him awash in cheers.
He followed it all up with a single to right field.
