CHICAGO -- Injured Chicago White Sox left-hander Chris Sale had a second bullpen session Wednesday as the team remained tight-lipped about his progress.

Sale hasn’t pitched since April 17 with a flexor muscle strain in his pitching arm. He was eligible to return from the DL on Saturday but remains at least two weeks away at best, although his downtime figures to last longer.

Just how long he stays away is anybody’s guess, although Sale said this week he feels much better than he did when the DL stint started.

White Sox manager Robin Ventura was asked to confirm the bullpen session before Wednesday’s game.

“I heard there’s a rumor,” Ventura joked.

This is the first time Sale has ever been on the disabled list, but he missed a start in May during each of the past two seasons because of a sore arm.

“You’re cautious with him,” Ventura said. “We’ve done this in the past. You’re probably more patient with him, just his reactions to how he has been feeling every time he goes out. He’s eventually going to be back. When it is, we’ll wait and see how he does.”
