The Chicago White Sox continued their pitching theme in the 2014 first-year player draft Thursday by using their second-round pick on right-hander Spencer Adams, from White County High School in Georgia.
The selection followed the White Sox’s first-round selection (No. 3 overall) on North Carolina State left-hander Carlos Rodon.
The 6-foot-4, 180-pound Adams -- taken 44th overall -- has a fastball in the low 90-mph range with a slider and a changeup. He has a three-quarters delivery and projects as a middle-of-the-rotation starter.
