INDIANAPOLIS -- Trading Milton Bradley remained the top priority of Chicago Cubs general manager Jim Hendry during the winter meetings, which open here on Monday.

Hendry called around to set up meetings with a couple of teams on Sunday. He hadn't heard any confirmation of meetings by early evening.

Hendry had a two-hour session with scouts and top baseball people Sunday evening to discuss the game plan over the next three days.

The White Sox brass won't appear at the meetings until early Monday afternoon.

Kenny Williams and Hendry will have their first formal meeting with the Chicago media late Monday afternoon.

• The Cubs are entertaining the idea of bringing back Reed Johnson at some point in the offseason. Johnson is a free agent.

• According to team sources, the Cubs are no closer to signing any free agent outfielder. There are four or five they're interested in, including Mike Cameron, Coco Crisp, Rick Ankiel and Marlon Byrd.

• Talking to the Chicago media who had gathered, Hendry and manager Lou Piniella kidded each other about a published report that stated Piniella might like to be extended beyond 2010.

Piniella is signed through 2010, his fourth year as Cubs manager. According to major league sources, any extension of Piniella at that point would require the Ricketts family signing off on it.
