OAKLAND, Calif. -- Reliever Bobby Jenks, out with forearm soreness, did not make the trip to the West Coast.

The White Sox play three games at Oakland this week and three at Anaheim over the weekend.

"The reason we don’t bring Bobby here because I thought the six-to-seven days we’re going to be here, he’s not going to throw," manager Ozzie Guillen said. "[Trainer Herm Schneider] knows better about what kind of rehab he’s going to do. He's got to be in some place to do the stuff. He’s not going to throw on the mound for the next four-to-six days , then I don’t see why we got to bring him here."

Jenks hasn't been shut down for the season, though, and manager Ozzie Guillen hopes the right-hander will pitch on the final homestand of the season.

As for Jenks' future with the organization, that remains up in the air as well. Jenks is arbitration eligible for 2011, but the White Sox have the opton of not tendering him a contract. He becomes a free agent in 2012.

"I don't know," Guillen said. "There’s no doubt when Bobby’s on the mound or available to pitch, our bullpen is better. I keep saying that all summer. But like I say, I don’t know what direction we’re going to go, don’t know what we have in mind.

"Bobby’s been great for this organization since he’s been here. He’s been good. Bring him back or not, that’s the front office people’s job. I don’t have any idea what they’re going to do. We haven’t talked about it yet. We haven’t had any meetings yet. I have to wait and have a clearer idea if we’re going to have the meetings to see what we have in mind."
