CHICAGO -- Chris Sale is hopeful that the discovery of a minor mechanical flaw can help him to get back on track.

The Chicago White Sox's left-handed reliever has given up at least two hits and a walk in each of his last two outings and has given up two hits in six of his 11 outings this season. He has a 7.15 ERA and a 1.765 WHIP.

Pitching coach Don Cooper and bullpen coach Juan Nieves were credited for finding a delivery glitch while watching video. Sale said it’s something early in his delivery that is affecting the outcome of his pitches.

“We saw some things that were different from last year and early on this year. I’m going to do everything I can to get back to where I was and where I need to be. Like I said before, I’m just keeping a level head and staying positive. I’m just moving on from all the stuff that happened in the past.”

Running from that past, and the expectation that comes with it, has been tough for Sale. He posted a 1.93 ERA in 21 outings last season and the thought was that he could continue to dominate, making the White Sox tough on left-handed hitters late in games.

It has been anything but that this season, as left-handers have posted a .315 batting average against Sale. He also has a 12.60 ERA at home.

“I’m surrounded by unbelievable guys in this clubhouse that are constantly picking me up, talking with me and helping me out, giving me their viewpoints,” Sale said. “You know, we have a great group of guys here and I’m looking forward to keep working with these guys and getting better. It will be there, but it’s going to take some time. I have to work on it. I’m anxious to get back out there and get back to where I need to be.”
