CHICAGO -- Make that eight consecutive games with an RBI for Paul Konerko.

Despite a procedure on Friday to remove a fragment from a sensitive area in his left wrist, Konerko’s RBI streak keeps humming along. A home run in Tuesday’s game gave Konerko his RBI this time, just as it did in Monday’s contest against the Mariners.

His eight-game streak goes along with a seven-game streak to start the season, making him just the fourth White Sox player with two streaks of RBIs in at least seven consecutive games.

Aside from a short slump before his RBI streak began, Konerko has been about as consistent as he has ever been in his career. His key just might be the fact that he doesn’t think about being consistent.

“I just try to dedicate myself to the situation in front of me and not try to think ahead or behind or anything like that,” Koneko said. “I’ve had success with that and just trying to stick with that. I’m out there to drive in runs and hit. I don’t think much of it, because that’s what I’m here to do and when I play first, obviously catch it when they throw it to me. But for the most part, I don’t think I’m doing something [extraordinary]. I’m doing what I think I should be doing.”

His home run moved him past Matt Williams and into a tie with Orlando Cepeda and Tony Perez for 61st on the all-time list with 379. He also scored his 1,000th career run on his homer.

It was the first time Konerko hit home runs in back-to-back games since August of 2010. He is also batting .552 (16-for-29) over an eight-game hit streak.
