CHICAGO -- Adam Dunn is on the move again as manager Ozzie Guillen dropped him one spot into the cleanup role for Thursday's series opener against the Minnesota Twins.

Dunn will essentially swap spots in the batting order with Paul Konerko, who was moved up one spot into the No. 3 hole. Dunn will be the designated hitter, while Konerko plays first base.

It is the first time this season Konerko has batted third. Dunn has batted cleanup just one other time this year.

Dunn has batted everywhere from third to seventh in the order as Guillen desperately searches for a spot where the big slugger can thrive. Dunn is batting just .166 with eight home runs and 32 RBIs, while striking out 110 times.

Guillen moved Dunn out of the No. 3 spot earlier this season but moved him back hoping that it would be to his benefit to hit in front of Konerko, who has been consistently productive all season. That clearly hasn't worked.

Dunn is just 4-for-48 (.083) over his last 13 games and is 16-for-122 (.131) at home this season.

Konerko is batting .344 (11-for-23) with three home runs and six RBIs lifetime against Carl Pavano, who will start for the Twins on Thursday. Dunn is 2-for-6 (.333) against Pavano.

Carlos Quentin has the night off as Mark Teahen takes over in right field. Quentin is 0-for-17 lifetime against Pavano.

The complete White Sox lineup for Thursday's game: Juan Pierre LF, Omar Vizquel 3B, Konerko 1B, Dunn DH, Alex Rios CF, A.J. Pierzynski C, Alexei Ramirez SS, Teahan RF, Gordon Beckham 2B.
