Adam Dunn is one of three left-handed hitters who will be watching from the bench when the Chicago White Sox take on the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night.

Also taking a seat will be A.J. Pierzynski and Mark Teahen, who started the past four games at third base. Manager Ozzie Guillen is going with a right-handed heavy lineup against Royals left-handed starter Danny Duffy.

The only regular left-handed hitter in the White Sox starting lineup will be leadoff man Juan Pierre.

Dunn has just two hits in 64 at-bats against left-handed pitching this season, a .031 mark. But his struggles aren’t limited to lefties. Over his last 22 games he is 7-for-79 (.089) with 40 strikeouts. He has 124 strikeouts overall, and his 117 strikeouts before the All-Star break were the most since at least 1970.

Dunn was moved into the cleanup spot before the All-Star break, while Paul Konerko was moved to the No. 3 spot. And while the change hasn’t done much for Dunn, and Konerko is in a power drought (no home runs since July 5), the team has been playing well.

Pierzynski’s day off will give Tyler Flowers his first start since being recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on July 10, when Ramon Castro went on the disabled list with a broken hand.

Brent Morel will start at third base in place of Teahen. Morel, who has started 59 games at third base this season, has not lost his regular gig at third base. Guillen just wanted to give Teahen some extended playing time since he was in the lineup when the White Sox put together a solid offensive effort against Detroit’s Justin Verlander on Friday.

The White Sox’s complete lineup Tuesday night against the Royals: Pierre LF, Alexei Ramirez SS, Konerko 1B, Carlos Quentin DH, Alex Rios CF, Brent Lillibridge RF, Gordon Beckham 2B, Flowers C, Morel 3B. Jake Peavy is the starting pitcher.
