Viciedo is in the house but won't start

Dayan Viciedo has made his way to Seattle to join the Chicago White Sox, but he's going to have to wait at least a day before getting a start.

Ozzie Guillen’s lineup against the Seattle Mariners did not include Viciedo, who was officially recalled Saturday to take the place of an injured Carlos Quentin.

Against Seattle right-hander Michael Pineda, Alejandro De Aza will make the start in right field, while Alex Rios starts in center. Rios has had a rough season, but hit the ball hard in Friday’s victory against the Mariners.

No longer a third baseman, the White Sox did have Viciedo playing some first base of late at Triple-A Charlotte, seeing 11 games of action there. But Adam Dunn was at first base Saturday while Paul Konerko was the designated hitter.

With a whirlwind travel schedule just to get to Seattle from North Carolina, Viciedo will be a spectator in the early going but could be called upon in the late innings to pinch hit.

The 22-year old was batting .297 at Triple-A with .365 on-base percentage and a .492 slugging percentage. He had 20 home runs and 78 RBIs, which ranked fourth in the International League.

The White Sox’s lineup for Saturday night’s game at Seattle: Juan Pierre LF, De Aza RF, Konerko DH, Rios CF, Alexei Ramirez SS, Dunn 1B, Tyler Flowers C, Brent Morel 3B, Gordon Beckham 2B. John Danks is the starting pitcher.
