Don't look for Dayan Viciedo to make his Chicago White Sox debut against Washington Nationals phenom Stephen Strasburg on Friday. Viciedo, who was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte, will move into a third base/designated hitter role over the next couple of weeks. He will get his first start with the team on Saturday.

The 21-year old Cuban defector was signed to a four-year, $10 million contract as a free agent in 2008. Viciedo has split time between first base and third base this season in the minors. The White Sox hope Viciedo can handle big-league pitching and not embarrass himself at third.

Here's the Viciedo scouting report: He has soft hands and a decent arm. However, range to his left and right is a question mark.

Viciedo has plus-plus power. U.S. Cellular Field could be like a toy house for him Viciedo if he can solve big-league pitching.

For now, Viciedo will split time with Omar Vizquel at third base. If Viciedo can fill the bill at third, injured infielder Mark Teahen, who is on the disabled list with a hand injury, might return to the team as a super utility man. Teahen played multiple positions with the Kansas City Royals before being traded to Chicago.

If Viciedo can't handle third base, the White Sox might look to trade for a veteran third baseman such as the Boston Red Sox's Mike Lowell.
