A quick look at the Chicago White Sox's 11-1 loss to the Kansas City Royals at U.S. Cellular Field on Friday night.

How it happened: The Royals jumped on Zach Stewart early and often, pounding out 12 hits, including four home runs, in his four-plus innings of work. Stewart didn't help matters by committing two errors (a third was generously changed to a hit later in the game). He has progressively gotten worse in his three starts since throwing a complete game, one-hit shutout on Sept. 5. Bruce Chen once again shut down the White Sox offense, allowing only two hits and one run in eight brilliant innings.

What it means: With Friday being his last start of the season, Stewart will end his year with a bad taste in his mouth. It's definitely not the impression he wants to leave as he's likely battling for a spot in the White Sox 2012 rotation.

Outside the box: In his three starts at U.S. Cellular Field this season, Chen has given up only two runs in 20 innings (0.90 ERA).

What’s next: The White Sox try to bounce back from Friday night's drubbing as John Danks (7-12, 4.36) takes the mound against Everett Teaford (2-0, 2.54) on Saturday night at U.S. Cellular Field at 6:10 pm.
