GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Right-handed pitcher Phillip Humber will start the Chicago White Sox's Cactus League opener on Monday against the Los Angeles Dodgers, with John Danks scheduled to start Tuesday’s game against the Angels and Jake Peavy to get the starting nod against Milwaukee on Wednesday.
Humber went 9-9 with a 3.75 ERA in 28 games last season, when he pitched a career-high 163 innings before a facial contusion sent him to the disabled list.
“I feel under control, I feel like the ball is coming out of my hands good, and I’m throwing a lot of quality pitches,” Humber said of his spring. “That’s all you can really hope for right now until you get into live game action when there will probably be a little more adrenaline flowing. Just trying to make sure you’re keeping everything down and feeling good.”
