Here's a quick look at the Chicago White Sox's 8-1 win over the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field on Wednesday.

How it happened: The White Sox got to Indians starter Jeanmar Gomez early and often. Adam Dunn began the offensive parade with a two-run home run in the first inning. The White Sox batted around the order and added six more runs in the fourth inning. Alejandro De Aza had a two-run single in the inning. With an 8-0 lead, it was more than enough for White Sox starter Jake Peavy. He improved to 4-1 and lowered his ERA to 1.89 after allowing one run in seven innings.
What it means: The White Sox closed out their seven-game road trip with two consecutive wins and split their four-game series with the Indians. The White Sox were 3-4 on the trip. They cut the Indians' American League Central lead to three games.
Play of the game: With two runners on and with one out in the second inning, Michael Brantley smashed the ball back at Peavy. The ball just missed Peavy's right arm as he was falling to his left, and he was able to trap it with his glove and body. He not only avoided a serious injury, but was able to turn it into a double play to get out of the jam.
Outside the box: Dunn hit his 10th home run last season on July 26, 2011. He reached his 10th home run this season on Wednesday. He hit all of 11 home runs last season.
Up next: The White Sox have Thursday off before returning to action at home Friday. Gavin Floyd (2-3, 3.03 ERA) will start for the White Sox. Felipe Paulino (1-0, 0.00) will make his second start of the season for the Kansas City Royals.
