CHICAGO -- Manager Robin Ventura wasn’t ready to set it in stone, but it appears likely that rookie Jose Quintana will get another start in place of the injured John Danks.
“It seems that way, I don’t know if it’s automatic,” Ventura said on Saturday. “He pitched well. I think we’ll look at that and how it lines up.”
Quintana earned his first major league win in his second career start with Friday’s 9-3 win over the AL Central-leading Cleveland Indians by allowing two runs on four hits with four strikeouts over six innings. Quintana retired 11 of the final 13 batters he faced.
Quintana’s next start would be Wednesday at the Tampa Bay Rays. Ventura said he’ll take match ups into account.
“You definitely look at it, but right now it looks like it could be that way,” Ventura said.
