Sox look to extend win streak to 10

By Scott Powers

CHICAGO – Robin Ventura never experienced a 10-game winning streak during his playing career with the Chicago White Sox.

He had a 10-game win streak with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2003, but his White Sox’s teams never got there during his 10 years on Chicago’s South Side.

Now as a White Sox manager, Ventura is on the verge of winning 10 consecutive games. The White Sox won their ninth straight game on Friday.

Ventura talked Saturday about what has exactly impressed him during their run.

“To have a run like that, you have to have a lot of guys doing a lot of things well, hits at the right time,” Ventura said prior to Saturday’s game. “We’ve had a lot of that. Guys on base, two outs, we want to get that extra run here and there, and those are the things that happen when teams go on runs like this. I’m glad it’s happened, but we have a lot of different guys doing well at the same time.”

The White Sox haven’t won 10 consecutive games since 2010 and have had 12 winning streaks of 10 or more games in their franchise’s history. Their longest streak is 19 games which occurred in 1906.
