Dunn out again, may return Saturday

By Bruce Levine

MINNEAPOLIS -- Adam Dunn, who sat out his seventh consecutive game with a right side oblique strain on Friday, may return to the Chicago White Sox lineup as early as Saturday.

“I watched him swing today,” Robin Ventura said. “I want him to get out here and swing in a more controlled BP situation. It is looking more like (he’ll return) tomorrow or Sunday.”

Dunn initially came back too early from the injury and aggravated the strain to the point that he has now missed another week. He was angry at himself for trying to force the issue and get back on the field.

This time around Ventura and the Sox training staff will have the final say-so on when they feel Dunn is ready to play.

“It feels really good now,” Dunn said. “There is no fear of (getting hurt). We have done everything treatment-wise. Once I am in there I won’t be changing anything. My swing is the same. Just whatever happens will happen. I won’t throttle back.”

Dunn ranks third in the American League in home runs with 38 and first in walks with 86. The White Sox have scored just a shade over three runs a game with their DH on the bench.
