'The Cell' to remain despite sell-off to Sprint
By Bruce Levine
INDIAN WELLS, Calif. -- The naming rights agreement between the Chicago White Sox and U.S Cellular will remain intact despite a sell-off of some of the company's Midwest holdings to Sprint.
"Our naming rights to the ballpark are not a part of this deal with Sprint," U.S. Cellular said in a statement. "The White Sox are a great partner, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with them."
The Sox and U.S Cellular forged a deal in February 2003 for a 23-year naming rights agreement worth $68 million. The contract has 10 years remaining.
