“There’s some soreness but no pain, so it’s go time,” Beckham said before the game.
Beckham was one of the hottest hitters on the team before the injury. He missed most of April and all of May after fracturing a bone in his wrist but he said that ailment had nothing to do with his latest setback.
“Totally separate from the other injury,” Beckham said. “I’m close to healthy. I feel a lot better than I did playing last weekend.”
Beckham is hitting .325 in 166 at-bats this season. He’ll bat eighth against the Royals on Friday.
“He doesn’t like sitting on the bench too much,” manager Robin Ventura said. “He’s feeling better.”
