Rapid Reaction: White Sox 5, Twins 2

By ESPNChicago.com

A quick look at the Chicago White Sox's 5-2 win over the Minnesota Twins on Sunday at Target Field.

How it happened: Alexei Ramirez led the offense, going 3-for-4, including an RBI double in the second and a solo homer in the fifth as the White Sox built an early lead. Avisail Garcia added a two-out RBI double in the third and Jeff Keppinger singled home a run in the fifth. Hector Santiago went six innings, scattering nine hits and two walks. He struck out one. The Twins scored first in the second when Oswaldo Arcia's groundout brought home Trevor Plouffe. Josh Willingham added an RBI double in the third. Matt Lidstrom pitched two scoreless innings for the Sox, allowing just one hit and striking out four, and Addison Reed picked up the save in the ninth, his 31st of the year.

What it means: While it’s been a rough year for the White Sox, they have now won nine of their last 14 after ending a 10-game losing streak.

Outside the box: The road series win was the first for the White Sox since July 9-11 at Detroit.

Up next: After an off-day on Monday the White Sox head to Kansas City for a three-game set vs. the Royals. John Danks (2-10, 4.54 ERA) will face the Royals’ Ervin Santana (8-6, 3.19) in the opener on Tuesday at 7:10 CT.
