Teahen set to begin rehab assignment
By Doug Padilla
Injured White Sox utility man Mark Teahen could rejoin the major-league roster as soon as next week.
Teahen, who has been on the disabled list since May 17 (retroactive to May 12), has been out with a strained right oblique. He is eligible to come off the DL on Friday. Teahen took early batting practice Thursday in Toronto and ran the bases.
Manager Ozzie Guillen wants Teahen to get time at third base, first base and in right field before he comes back to the White Sox.
Teahen started off strong in a backup role, but had cooled off considerably before he was injured. He was batting .226 with a home run and four RBI before he went on the DL.
Dallas McPherson replaced Teahen on the active roster. He had a key single the first night he was recalled (May 17 against the Rangers), but has just one hit in 10 at-bats since while getting three starts at third base. He is batting .182 overall.
