Rapid Reaction: White Sox 3, Mariners 0

By ESPNChicago.com

The Chicago White Sox made it two in a row over the Seattle Mariners, winning 3-0 on Saturday night.

How it happened: Mariners starter Michael Pineda had just one bad inning as Juan Pierre started a two-run fourth with a bunt single. Paul Konerko and Alexei Ramirez drove in the runs. Alejando De Aza, who scored in the fourth, took reliever Chance Ruffin deep in the eighth to make it 3-0. White Sox starter John Danks didn't have any bad innings, going the distance to improve to 6-0 in his last seven matchups with Seattle. It was Danks' second complete game of the season and first shutout. He had 10 strikeouts.

How it happened: What it means: De Aza has hit safely in five of his last six games with eight hits, including a home run, more than compensating for the loss of Carlos Quentin, who went on the DL. Dayan Viciedo also will get a chance.

Outside the box: The White Sox entered play Saturday as the only AL team with a winning record on the road (35-29) and a losing mark at home (29-36). They started the day with the fourth-best road winning percentage and the second worst win percentage at home.

Up next: White Sox right-hander Gavin Floyd (11-10, 4.45 ERA) will pitch in the finale of a three-game series. The Mariners will go with left-hander Jason Vargas (7-11, 4.18) in the 3:10 p.m. start from Safeco Field.
