White Sox promote Buddy Bell, 2 others

By Doug Padilla

CHICAGO -- The White Sox handed out three promotions in their minor-league development staff, including one for Buddy Bell, who had been the director of player development.

Bell was promoted to the newly created role of vice president player development and special assignments. Nick Capra was named director of player development, while Kirk Champion was moved to the role of minor league field coordinator.

Capra essentially took Bell’s old role, while Champion was moved into Capra’s previous role. Bell is entering his fifth season in the White Sox’s organization and eighth overall. Bell was director of minor league instruction from 1991-93.

Capra has been with the White Sox for 17 season, while Champion has been with the club for 23 years.
